Establishes Homelessness & Poverty Advisory Council to advise the city's HHH program.
HPAC would pair the perspectives of both people who have experienced homelessness as well as family members of people who have experienced homelessness, creating a formal advisory body that can help repair the systemic influences to aid in rehousing and repairing families.
Complainants would be able to file their claims with Albuquerque Metro Court, so that the administration is not able to restrict any claims made regarding unlawful discrimination.
First, a complaint would be filed with the city's Office of Civil Rights by a complainant, and after 180 days, if the matter is still unresolved, complainants may file the same claim with Metro Court for another 180 days.
Changing the criminal code to clarify language around laws that have been used to target certain groups.
This would allow police to focus on violent crime and not just trespassing on public property, and allowing people who live outside to focus their efforts on regaining housing instead of navigating the courts.
Prohibits anyone from conducting deportation efforts from utilizing city property for their deportation efforts.
This would allow staff at city-funded programs and shelters to deny entry by Immigration & Customs Enforcement Officers unless they have a signed judicial warrant.
